It was Trent's turn to wake up bright and early with their screaming toddler. He fed her potato chips for breakfast because he didn't have the patience to deal with her throwing another meal she didn't like on the floor.
The household chores had been piling up. There was so much to do now that they were parents and never enough time in the day. More time was spent cleaning up Ashton's messes than doing anything else.
Feeling happy about her junk-food breakfast, Ashton decided to behave in the tub and only splashed a little, at first. Though she quickly got out of hand and Trent was soaked before the end.
It was OK though; he needed a long soak in the tub to help him relax. Lately he'd been feeling stressed about Ashton's poor behavior and worried about not having time to earn the money they badly needed.
"Um Trent?" Amie called to him in the bathroom, "Why is there a naked toddler wandering around the house?"
"I swear she had clothes on when I left her," he laughed, having loosened up enough to regain his sense of humor. Ashton had a tendency to strip and run around whenever she felt hyper.
After the morning chaos, Trent set to work cleaning up last night's messes while Ashton praised her wonderfulness in the mirror.
"Now Ashy, you need learn to say sorry when you make a mistake. It makes people feel sad when you don't say sorry." Trent attempted to instill some manners into his rambunctious girl.
Ashton regarded him dubiously wondering why she ought to care how others feel. The world revolved around her, after all.
In the end, she decided it was best to just smile and nod. Whatever her daddy was saying , he wouldn't stop until she pretended to understand.
Eating time continued to be play time for Ashton though. Nothing her parents had tried so far seemed to impact her behavior in a positive way.
"Why Ash?" Amie growled in a moment of frustration. "Why do you always throw your food on the floor? I know you're hungry." Amie had fed Ash several times that day already because Ashton would take only a bite or two before flinging her meal into the air. Well that's it, Amie decided, she's going to bed hungry.
Ashton was not happy when she was removed from her highchair without being given more food. She was still hungry and threw a huge fit to prove it.
Because of her bad behavior, Ashton was told that she needed to put herself to sleep tonight while daddy read her favorite book to himself. This caused Ashton to cry; she couldn't sleep without her story!
After many tears and much begging, Ashton finally let Trent show her how to say sorry to mommy for throwing her dinner on the floor. Afterward, he helped her into bed with a kiss on the forehead and a twinkle of pride in his eye.
Ashton learned that saying sorry was sometimes the only way to get what she wanted. As much as she hated giving up some of her control, it did feel safe to trust mommy and daddy.
Trenton has a good collection of excellent quality figurines going. He will have to start frog collecting at some point to complete their Themed Display of animals.
And then this happened. Is this glitch normal? It's like Ashton jumped out of herself, seeing double for a moment before baby-her magically disappeared.
Welcome to the family beautiful girl! Though your future is fated, we still look forward to seeing who you become.
"Mama!" Ashton shouted, causing Amie to put down her reading with a sigh. She hardly had time to read or write anymore.
"Yes honey?" she asked.
"I hungry," Ashton reported, poised with a serious face.
"OK baby, well it's just about dinner time anyway. Let me get you something." Amie soothed, scooping her 2 year old up in her arms.
Secretly, Ashton wasn't actually hungry, but she couldn't stand the thought of mommy giving anything else more attention than her, especially those boring books.
"Oooo!" Ashton squealed, thinking this gooey food would be extra fun to play with.
And it turns out she was right; it was extremely fun to smear it on the walls and floor.
Once her ploy was discovered, Ashton was quickly wiped off and placed on the floor so mommy could make dinner. Queen Bee was not happy about this and promptly threw a huge fit.
"What even is this Amie?" Trent scoffed, "And how did she manage to get it everywhere?!"
"It's just applesauce hun; could you please just wipe it down before it dries on? Dinner's almost ready." Amie called over her shoulder.
Ashton was banished to her room to 'think about what she did' while the grown-ups enjoyed a nice quiet dinner for a change.
But Ashton seemed suspiciously quiet; it wasn't like her to ever play nicely with anything.
And not surprisingly, she was making another huge mess. It's pretty much all Ashton does around here, messes and tantrums.
Needless to say, Trent was not pleased to have yet another mess to clean up. And hearing the frustration in his voice when he scolded her caused Ashton throw another tantrum.
"I think she's just tired honey!" Amie called from the next room, hoping this behavior was just a phase.
Ashton must have been tired out because she barely cried when she was told it was bedtime (usually there was a huge fight about it) and then she fell straight to sleep. Thank goodness!
Trent and Amie were exhausted. Who knew being parents would be so difficult? She's only just one little girl but she already has the house turned upside down and her parents wrapped around her finger.
"It may be time to rethink our gentle discipline style," Trent sighed in frustration, thinking that things couldn't possibly go on like this much longer.
"I agree," Amie breathed sleepily, rubbing her eyes.
The Conrads thought it would be a good idea to journal some of their thoughts and feelings as they experienced their first pregnancy. Maybe it could be a part of the baby book.
When Trent was out on a jog, Amie went into labor and casually brought herself to the hospital like it was 'no thang'. Of course she called Trent and told him to hurry.
Amie began to feel a bit nervous by the time she and Trent walked to the delivery room, but he reassured her that all would be well.
However, he was the one to flip out once the delivery started. Amie was on so much medication that she hardly felt a thing.
"And what are you doing now doc?!" Trent cried out chaotically.
"Mr. Conrad, if you could just take a seat please, this will go much more smoothly." Dr. Abbey coaxed. Internally she sighed, fathers, I swear they're worse than the newborns.
Just after newborn Ashton (baby girl) arrived, Amie passed out with exhaustion from the long ordeal. (I let the game randomly generate her name also).
Once mommy was rested up, it was time to take Ashton home. Both Amie and Trent felt scared to be new parents, but there was also something so magical and exciting about having created such a precious little creature.
Ashton's room was freshly painted pink and the carpet changed to match. Her bassinet and birth certificate are the only things in her room for now because she doesn't need much yet.
Trent has taken to being a daddy very quickly and doesn't even mind changing dirty diapers in the middle of the night. In fact, both parents jumped to parenting level 3 after just one day of doting on their new baby girl.
"I have to say Trent," Amie cooed, "There is nothing sexier than watching you feed Ashton."
Trent blushed, accepting her kiss. "We do have a perfect little family don't we? Want to get started on a sibling?" He joked.

"Welcome to our new home honey," Trent said, kissing his new bride on the cheek. He carried her over the threshold and they went straight to their favorite thing to do:
reading together. They are both bookworms (or total nerds depending on how you look at it).
Nonetheless, the reading only lasted so long before they were all over each other. I mean it's their first night in their new home as a new married couple, it's only right that they should...
get started growing their family. They have that empty room to fill after all.
Amie puked all night and all day before her baby bump popped out. Trent was thrilled to hear the good news.
Once they knew they were expecting a little one (and a whole lot of new expenses), they set to work making money. Trent likes to hack wildly at wooden blocks with a butcher knife; it's slightly terrifying.
That night an uninvited intruder paid the Conrads a visit.
At least he preyed on Trent instead of his poor pregnant wife who could barely sleep anyway due to back discomfort.
"See you tomorrow night!" The mysterious stranger said, leaving Trent to feel used and violated.
Trent crashed loudly to the ground, passing out right next to his bed, where he would have been much more comfortable sleeping. He awoke Amie who, seeing the holes in his neck and being unable to wake him from his deep slumber, freaked out and took it upon herself to learn more about vampires. (As did I because I've not played with them before now and I was slightly freaked out).
Amie learned that they don't really want to hurt Sims but are always thirsty for plasma. So, she ordered a couple of packs to store in the fridge in case the vampire returns. She also ordered a vampire lore book so both she and Trent can keep studying. The Conrads had no idea their new home was in vampire territory when they purchased it. Yikes!
